AI Writing Assistant
For Your Desktop

Rewrite a difficult email, turn rough notes into a clear draft, summarize a long update, or translate selected text, then bring the result back to the app where the work started.

Think-Act keeps your source and draft close together so you can compare and edit the result. Generated writing remains a draft until you review it.

Available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. macOS is planned.

Everyday writing tasks

Shape the draft until it sounds like you.

You may already have the right information but not the right wording. Ask for a clearer structure, a more diplomatic tone, a tighter summary, or a translation while keeping the meaning you intended.

Improve tone Rewrite

Before

"We need this done by Friday. Please make sure you don't miss the deadline again."

After

"Friday is our target date for this. Let me know if anything might affect the timeline so we can plan accordingly."

Make it shorter Summarize

Before

"As per our earlier discussion during yesterday's long stand-up meeting where we talked about various things, the consensus was that we should proceed with option B, keeping in mind the constraints that were mentioned."

After

"Following yesterday's stand-up, the team agreed to go with option B within the stated constraints."

Turn notes into tasks Structure

Meeting notes

"Talk to legal about contract, john update dashboard before demo, sarah send final invoice, check with vendor about delay."

Action items

  • Review contract with legal team
  • John: update dashboard before demo
  • Sarah: send final invoice
  • Follow up with vendor on delay
Translate Language

English

"The order has been delayed due to a logistics issue. We expect delivery by next Tuesday and will keep you updated."

French

"La commande a été retardée en raison d'un problème logistique. Nous prévoyons une livraison d'ici mardi prochain et vous tiendrons informé."

Prompt-only mode

Start from an idea, not a selection.

Not every writing task begins with text to rewrite. Prompt-only mode leaves the clipboard out of the request, so you can draft from a brief, explore an outline, or prepare a quick reply using only the instruction you provide.

With clipboard context

Selected or copied text is included as input. Useful when rewriting, translating, summarizing, or improving something you already wrote.

Prompt-only mode

Clipboard content is ignored. The assistant responds to your instruction alone. Use it for drafting, brainstorming, or short replies where no prior text applies.

  • Keep small writing tasks focused and fast.
  • Avoid accidentally sending irrelevant or sensitive clipboard content.
  • Draft replies, brainstorm ideas, or write from scratch on demand.

Image & OCR support

Not all writing starts as text.

A screenshot, scan, receipt, or image-based document can become useful writing context. Think-Act extracts the visible text, keeps the source available for review, and helps turn what you found into an email, summary, note, or checklist.

Step 1 · Capture

Start with the image

Copy a screenshot or add a scan or image-based document—anything from an error message or table to a receipt or printed page.

  • Screenshots from Windows apps
  • Scanned notes, receipts, and forms
  • The original stays nearby while you work

Step 2 · Extract

Read and check the text

Think-Act pulls out the words it can see. Take a moment to compare names, dates, totals, and any unclear characters with the original.

  • Works with supported image formats
  • See the extracted text before drafting
  • Check important details against the source

Step 3 · Write

Turn it into something useful

Ask for the format you need and tell Think-Act who will read it. It can turn the reviewed text into an email, summary, note, or checklist.

  • Choose the kind of draft you need
  • Set the audience and tone
  • Review and edit the draft before using it
Writing workspace

Keep the source, instruction, and new draft in one view

Compare what you started with and what Think-Act changed before anything is copied, shared, or sent. The workspace keeps the writing decision visible instead of burying it in a chat history.

THINK-ACT · WRITING WORKSPACE
A side-by-side workspace makes it easier to catch changed meaning, unsupported claims, missing details, or a tone that does not fit before the revised text returns to your email, document, or chat.
Professional writing tasks

Useful across the writing you do every day

Use selected or copied text from email, documents, chat tools, browsers, and office apps, then return the revised version where it belongs.

Email & professional replies

Write a concise response, soften a difficult message, or draft a follow-up from selected text or notes copied from your email app.

Reports & summaries

Turn rough notes into a structured report. Summarize a long document into the three things that matter. Draft a status update from a list of bullet points.

Translation

Translate a customer message, localize a paragraph, or prepare an incoming document in your preferred language.

Meeting follow-ups

Convert meeting notes into an action list, a brief summary email, or a task breakdown. Rough notes are enough; they do not need to be a polished transcript.

Policies & announcements

Draft a policy summary, rewrite an announcement for a specific audience, or turn a dense procedure into plain-language steps for staff.

Chat & support responses

Draft a clear support reply, rephrase a difficult customer response, or quickly translate an incoming message before you answer it.

Privacy & clipboard awareness

Check what is included in each request

Writing often involves sensitive content—customer data, internal figures, confidential notes. For each request, decide whether copied content should be included, confirm the configured model endpoint is appropriate, and follow your organization's data-handling requirements.

Clipboard & privacy controls

  • Prompt-only mode Discard clipboard content for the current request. The assistant uses only the instruction you type, nothing copied earlier.
  • Review before sending Read the output before copying it into an email, document, or chat. The assistant drafts; you decide what leaves your machine.
  • Approved endpoints only Text is sent only to endpoints configured by your organization or workspace policy. Use local or private endpoints for sensitive material where your setup supports it.
  • No automatic external sends The assistant drafts and returns text for your review. Sending an email or posting content requires an approved connector and a confirmed action—it does not happen automatically.
  • Align with your organization's policies If your workplace has rules about which tools can process certain data, use those settings in Think-Act. Do not route confidential content through unapproved services.
Agent integration

Use the draft in the next task

Once the text is checked, you can use it as context for another task, save a prompt you use often, or pass it to an approved connector. External actions still require the right permissions and your confirmation.

Stage 1

Draft or rewrite

Use the writing assistant to produce or improve text. Add OCR content as context where needed. Turn repeated prompts into reusable local skills for faster access next time.

Stage 2

Review the output

Read the result before it goes anywhere. The assistant produces a draft—you decide whether it is accurate, appropriate, and ready. No automatic sending or posting takes place at this stage.

Stage 3

Take a follow-up action

Pass reviewed content to the desktop agent for further work, hand it to an approved connector for an external action, or use it as context for a larger agent workflow. External actions—sending an email, posting content—require an installed and approved connector, appropriate permissions, and your confirmation before anything happens.

FAQ

Common questions about writing assist

What to know before you bring Think-Act into your everyday writing. More questions are covered on the full FAQ page.

Try Think-Act Writing Assist
Does Think-Act work with text from other Windows apps?

Yes. You can use selected or copied text from email, documents, browsers, chat tools, and other desktop workflows. Think-Act prepares the result for you to review and paste back into the app where the work belongs.

Can I write from a prompt without using clipboard content?

Yes. Prompt-only mode ignores clipboard context for that request. Use it for a fresh draft, an outline, brainstorming, or any task where copied content is irrelevant or should stay out of the prompt.

What kinds of editing can the writing assistant do?

It can rewrite for clarity or tone, shorten or expand text, summarize long content, translate passages, structure rough notes, and draft from a brief. For a more useful first draft, say who it is for, what you need, and any limits it should follow. Explore the broader Think-Act feature set for connected desktop workflows.

Can screenshots and scans become writing context?

Yes, where supported image clipboard formats are available. Think-Act can extract visible text and use it to prepare an email, summary, note, or checklist. Check important details against the original image before using the draft. See OCR and document intelligence for the full capture, extraction, and review workflow.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. Think-Act is free to install and try. Rewriting a message, summarizing notes, translating a paragraph, and drafting from a prompt are useful places to start. Upgrade to Pro or Business when usage or team workflows require it.

Does Think-Act send or post my writing automatically?

No. The writing assistant prepares text for review. Sending an email, publishing a post, or updating an external system requires an approved connector, appropriate permissions, and confirmation. Without that connector, the result remains a draft. Review the tool and permission controls before enabling external workflows.

How should sensitive writing be handled?

Use prompt-only mode when clipboard content should be excluded, avoid credentials and regulated personal data, and use organization-approved local or private endpoints where your policy requires them. The Security page explains the recommended checks in more detail.

Which operating systems support Think-Act?

Think-Act is currently available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. A macOS version is planned; check the Downloads page for the current installer and system requirements.
